Dear All
During the recent SoLID meeting, Whit showed some calculation that even
the pressure is not very high, the stored energy will make HGC a
pressure vessel
see p10-p12
https://solid.jlab.org/DocDB/0000/000065/001/SoLID%20-%20Oct%202017%20-SEAY.pdf
Here I forward you information from Whit about the design guidance we
have to follow.
I have put the same things into "pressure" folder in our dropbox.
Whit will be the person in charge of evaluating our design to make sure
it satisfy with all rules.
When we are ready or have enough questions, we can ask him for a meeting.
Thanks
Zhiwen

Zhiwen,
Attached is a thin window design guideline that will help with
calculating stress in the window, determining clamping force required
and information on how to design the fixtures the windows are mounted
into. This will be useful information to help prevent tearing of the
window. See part 7 of the supplement (link below) for allowable
stresses for thin windows.

Overview of the pressure system program
https://www.jlab.org/ehs/ehsmanual/Pressure%20and%20Vacuum%20Systems%20Supplement/index.html
This is the pressure system supplement - contains all sections of the
program
https://www.jlab.org/ehs/ehsmanual/Pressure%20and%20Vacuum%20Systems%20Supplement/Part7-%20Vacuum%20Systems.pdf
even though we are not contending with vacuum, Part 7 is related to thin
windows
This is the bulk of the guidelines and requirements. We'll have to
determine what category each detector falls within and then summarize
the individual requirements that each detector group must meet.
Whit
