<p>I don't think mounting to the magnet cone is necessarily ruled out, however that may not be part of the best mounting solution. Hopefully, the detector can inserted & mounted (securely), in the magnet extension ("house"), from it's outer shell (on the rails). The
prototype shell concept should still be valid, additional internal stiffeners might (or not) be needed. Mounting the spherical mirror, exclusively, from the "top" structure of the shell may be necessary. Simplifying the bottom curved plate is desirable.</p>

Derek and I were looking at this engineering note yesterday, and to us it <br>
appears that the HGC will be suspended via rails along its outer circumference, <br>
and no direct contact with the cone.<br>
<br>
1) If this is correct, does this require any changes to the HGC design you made?<br>
2) I assume this will allow us to simplify the design of the curved plate on the <br>
bottom of the prototype, as we discussed last week. Is this correct?<br>
