With the proposed method of providing an additional unit RM212, the
FEL rapid access system doesn't need to be tampered with and thus
can continue providing a rapid access function. The additional unit
will provide you with neutron and gamma measurements and Dave is
working on setting up a signal in epics to accommodate this test
plan. We should have everything in place and functioning sometime tomorrow morning, provided we have access to the vault.<br>

<div>This morning a review of proposed neutron flux measurements
in the FEL vault was conducted and the go-ahead was given to
modify the RadCon Rapid Access System for these measurements,
contigient on modifying the rapid access software recording
radiation to accommodate a neutron detector.</div>
<div>Please modify the software that records radiation
measurements in the FEL vault to add a neutron detector that
RadCon (Melvin Washington will put on RM207_p3. That is, Melvin
will swap out the gamma/x-ray detector on that monitor for a
neutron detector. The neutron detector will then provide a
signal for strip charting in the FEL control room along with the
other monitors. </div>
<div>We need this as soon as possible so that a measurement can be
conducted this week. Melvin Washington, John Jefferson, or Jim
Boyce can answer questions aobut this request.</div>
