This is a reminder of the Tensor group meeting Today August 2, at 1:30pm (JLab time). This will be a theory focused meeting moderated by Wim Cosyn. See details below.

----------------------------------
Dear all,
The UNH-led tensor group meetings on Fridays have
requested a meeting focusing on notations & conventions with input from
theorists.
This is both within the context of the EPJA special issue and just in
general going forward for purposes of better communication.
The next regular planned meeting is Fri Aug 2, 1:30PM EDT. Would you be
able to join? This is obviously not a convenient time for all time
zones (and it is summer travel/vacation season) but any input is welcome
over e-mail too.
I will prepare a few slides for the meeting to get discussion going. It
was my intention (and this is in progress) to write up an overview of
different spin-1/tensor related notations and conventions throughout the
literature for a contribution to the EPJA special issue. If there is
some consensus of "preferred notations & conventions" that could be
added to the overview document for the special issue which will be
signed by all anyway I believe.
While going through the literature, as always there are
- different notations being used for the same thing
- sometimes the same notation is used for different things.
- cases where there is ambiguity when the normalization isn't clearly
specified.
So it could be beneficial to arrive at some agreed on notation &
conventions.
Variables in mind:
- density matrix polarization parameters (theo/exp usage)
- asymmetries
- structure functions
- distribution functions (collinear pdf, gpd, tmd).
- ...?
Especially for the polarization parameters there is quite a range of
notations used, distribution functions on the other hand seem to be
quite unified already (thanks to conventions from spin 1/2 for instance).
Kind regards,
Wim (w Nathaly & Karl)
