Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to announce that the 2020 International Workshop on Nb3Sn SRF Science, Technology, and Applications (Nb3SnSRF’20) that was originally planned for this spring is now being held virtually/online this fall. The workshop will be hosted online by the Center for Bright Beams (CBB) and Cornell University from November 10 to 13, 2020. Registration and Abstract Submission are now open.
The scientific program of the workshop will include approximately 40 presentations on four topics:
1. Fundamental Studies (Research focusing especially on the science of RF superconductivity in Nb3Sn. Some example subjects include maximum fields, vortex entry and dissipation, and grain boundaries.)
2. Growth studies (Studies on the growth of SRF-grade Nb3Sn films (e.g. growth mechanism studies, parameter space exploration). Deposition methods presented here can include vapor diffusion, sputtering, CVD, ALD, or other methods.)
3. Performance (Results of cryogenic RF tests of Nb3Sn coated cavities.)
4. Applications (Development of Nb3Sn cavities for accelerators, including both large- and small-scale applications. Some example subjects include conduction cooling, low conduction input couplers, industry partners, and near-term accelerator applications.)
The workshop website is online at: https://indico.classe.cornell.edu/event/1806/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__indico.classe.cornell.edu_event_1806_&d=DwMGaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=5U98yR7N9XDfLzANUaV0NQ&m=qRYsPtahpjdFPHkqCeXCTpUSXDrfBckQLzI5iACi2xQ&s=VeNTeYulo4r7z7Yw2QS9Vg7gFzqEKcXYvDIfwVM8ItM&e=>
Registration:
Registration for the workshop is available now through the workshop website. Registration is free, but required to participate in the workshop. Please note that registration closes on October 30, so we encourage you to register soon. Please refer to the workshop website for additional information.
Abstract Submission:
Abstract submission for proposed oral contributions is open now through the workshop website. The Nb3SnSRF’20 Scientific Program Committee encourages actively engaged scientists working on one of the 4 topics listed above to contribute to the scientific program. Please submit your talk proposal before the abstract submission deadline of October 16, 2020. Please contact the chair of the Scientific Program Committee (Sam Posen, sposen at fnal.gov<mailto:sposen at fnal.gov>) for questions regarding abstract submission and the scientific program.
Student Awards
The two best graduate student presentations will receive the 2020 "Happy Coating Award".
Important Dates:
• October 01, 2020: Registration opens
• October 01, 2020: Abstract submission opens
• October 16, 2020: Abstract submission deadline
• October 30, 2020: Registration closes
• November 10, 2020: Workshop begins
Kind regards,
Matthias Liepe (Workshop Chair)
