Dear Colleagues,
This is just a reminder of our informal meeting about the physics of ultraperipheral collisions
at LHC/RHIC and its connections to the EIC today at 1 PM. Please see announcement below.
All JLab Theory Center members are encouraged to attend.
--------------------
High-energy electromagnetic processes in ultraperipheral collisions at LHC/RHIC and the EIC
Time: Monday, April 24th, 1pm-3pm+ EDT
Location: JLab CC L102, remote participation through BlueJeans
Ultraperipheral nucleus-nucleus and proton-nucleus collisions at LHC and RHIC allow one to study
high-energy photoproduction processes at CM energies W ~ 500-1800 GeV, using the heavy nucleus as
a source of Weizsaecker-Williams photons. The physics explored in these electromagnetic processes
has many connections with the scientific program of a future Electron-Ion Collider (nuclear shadowing,
non-linear effects, gluon saturation, nucleon imaging). The informal meeting is intended to give an
overview of the present status and future prospects of ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs), their
theoretical interpretation, and the connections with the EIC physics program.
Agenda:
1:00pm-1:10pm C. Weiss Introduction and plan of meeting
1:10pm-1:40pm V. Guzey Nuclear shadowing of gluons with UPCs and EIC
1:40pm-2:00pm Discusion
2:00pm-2:30pm T. Lappi Non-linear effects and saturation with UPCs and EIC
