Hi all,
there is no seminar on Monday Oct 8 (Columbus Day in the US except JLab).
On Wednesday Oct 10 1pm, there will be a cake seminar by José Goity.
Title: BChPT x 1/Nc: a consistent approach to baryon chiral dynamics
Abstract: BChPT has been notoriously problematic in describing basic
properties of baryons, especially in SU(3). The problems are related to
large NLO and NNLO corrections. Those problems were identified to be the
result of the failure of implement consistency with the 1/Nc expansion
of QCD into the EFT. It will be shown that by implementing that
consistency the chiral expansion shows dramatically improved
convergence. The mechanism that leads to such improvements will be
explained and applied to the especially challenging case of SU(3)
baryons. The applications will include mass relations, sigma terms of
the nucleon, SU(3) breaking of the vector current charges and axial
couplings. Quark mass dependencies using results from lattice QCD will
provide useful testing for the approach.
Cheers,
Vincent
