Dear all,

Here is a reminder for next week's seminars:

Theory Seminars:

Monday, October 29th, 1PM, Room L102
Andrew Jackura (Indiana University), "Phenomenology of 3 → 3 Scattering"
Abstract:
Understanding three particle dynamics is paramount in modern theoretical and experimental efforts in nuclear and particle physics. I will discuss recent progress in constructing phenomenological representations for the three particle scattering amplitude. I will show features of the resulting physics, such as rescattering, and discuss its relation to modern lattice QCD frameworks.

Wednesday, October 31st, 1PM, Room L102
Francesco Hautmann (Oxford University), "TMDs from Parton Branching"

We discuss the role of initial-state transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distribution functions for lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron collisions in the region of high energies and the region of low transverse momenta. Based on unitarity of QCD evolution equations, we develop a parton branching formalism for TMDs. We obtain evolution equations which coincide with DGLAP evolution in the limit in which the soft-gluon resolution parameter saturates the kinematic boundary, but incorporate transverse momentum recoils and soft gluon emissions for finite resolution scales. These allow us to study the effects of color coherence and angular ordering of color radiation in the evolution of TMDs. We compare this formalism with the CSS formalism. We present applications to deep inelastic scattering and Drell-Yan production.
