Dear all,

Speaker: José Goity

Time and location: Wednesday, July 24, 1:00-2:00 pm, Room F224-225

Title: BChPT x 1/Nc: masses and currents

Abstract: the EFT that combines two fundamental expansions in QCD, the
chiral and the 1/Nc, provides an improved framework to study light
baryons at low energy. The framework of BChPT x 1/Nc presents
interesting theoretical aspects result of the interplay between chiral
symmetry and the emergent spin-flavor dynamical symmetry at large Nc.
Such aspects will be outlines and briefly discussed. In general, an
improved range of applicability as well as a consistent description of
"calculable" quantities is observed with respect to ordinary BChPT.

Basic applications are presented: 1) a new analysis of sigma terms based
on the Feynman-Hellmann theorem, leading to a virtually parameter free
estimate of the pion-nucleon sigma term. 2) Axial couplings and vector
currents' form factors. Throughout some connections with Lattice QCD
results will be drawn.
