Dear all,

Here is a reminder for the cake seminar tomorrow:

Wednesday, May 15th, 1:00PM, Room F224-F225
Timothy Hobbs (Southern Methodist University), "Hadrons' collinear structure and the future EIC program"

Abstract:
Although efforts to understand the internal structure of hadrons drove much of the activity in particle physics historically, numerous questions persist to this day. At the heart of these mysteries is the issue of how the details of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) conspire to produce the phenomenally rich spectrum and properties of the mesons and baryons observed in nature. While essential to achieving a complete understanding of QCD, the open questions in our knowledge of hadron structure also have serious implications over a broad energy spectrum, limiting the discovery potential of experiments along the high-energy frontier and hampering the quest to better understand the dynamics at work in nuclei at lower energies. To make improvements in both directions, there are many examples in which a sharpened knowledge of hadrons' collinear structure will be crucial. To this end, I will provide in this talk an overview of how a high-luminosity tomography program at the electron-ion collider (EIC) --- together with a synergy of methods in nonperturbative QCD and analysis of medium- and high-energy data --- can make decisive progress.

Thank you.
