Title: Searching for the Neutron Electric Dipole Moment on the lattice
Abstract: The search for a permanent neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) has become an important arena in the hunt for new sources of CP violation, which could help explain the origin of the Universe's matter-antimatter asymmetry. The current bounds on the neutron EDM are several orders of magnitude above the EDM induced by Standard Model interactions, but these bounds are generally based on estimates of QCD effects, rather than systematic calculations. I will present the SymLat collaboration's efforts to directly calculate, from first principles, the neutron EDM induced by both the CP-violating QCD theta term and higher-dimensional CP-violating effective operators.
