Varun Vaidya (MIT), "Jet propagation through the Quark Gluon plasma: An open quantum system EFT"

Abstract:
I will discuss using the technology of open Quantum systems in conjunction with the recently developed EFT for forward scattering to address the question of a massless jet propagation through the Quark Gluon Plasma medium. I will enumerate the various possible hierarchy of scales that appear in this system depending on the temperature and the Effective Field theory formulation for the same. Using the open quantum system approach I will demonstrate how we can derive and solve the Boltzmann transport equation for a jet in the markovian approximation.
