Title: Big Science: Discovery at the biggest and smallest scales with big instruments and big teams
Abstract: I will review some of the history of Big Science instruments and facilities and their growth in scale and importance over the last century, culminating in the remarkable scientific instruments that are in use today to propel discovery from the smallest subatomic particles, to pharmaceuticals, to new energy materials to the largest features of our universe.
