Title: Electromagnetic probes of the quark-gluon plasma from lattice QCD
Abstract: The structure of strongly-interacting matter at finite temperature is not as well understood as hadrons in the vacuum. Photons and leptons are important
probes which can help us to decide on the qualitative features of the medium, and are also relevant to heavy-ion collision phenomenology. In this talk I
will review some recent progress on constraining the thermal photon emissivity of the QGP from euclidean correlators computed in lattice QCD, which
can be compared with scenarios from weakly or strong-coupled models of the medium. A first look at fixed-virtuality correlators will be presented which
offers an alternative strategy to constrain the thermal emissivity via novel dispersion relations. The connection of fixed-virtuality correlators to the structure
functions of the QGP, which parameterize the scattering of a lepton on the medium, will be discussed. Their interpretation could reveal how the fluid nature
of the QGP emerges from the underlying partonic degrees of freedom.
