Hello All,

This coming Wednesday, October 5th at 1 pm (EDT), JLab's Jozef Dudek will kick off our return to in-person cake seminars.
If you will be on-site and are comfortable doing so, please join us in room F224/225 of CEBAF Center for the seminar.
Please see below for the details.

Cake Seminar
Wednesday, October 5th at 1:00 PM

Jozef Dudek (JLab/William & Mary)
will address the "$\gamma K \to K \pi$ and the $K^*$ resonance from lattice QCD"

Abstract: In this talk I'll motivate studying processes in which a stable hadron absorbs a current to produce a resonance using lattice QCD. As an example I'll present the case of producing the $K^*$ which decays to $K \pi$, and show how the finite-volume of lattice QCD has to be carefully handled. Going beyond the only previous application of the relevant formalism, to production of a $\pi\pi$ system, I'll show how the reduced rotational symmetry of the lattice requires consideration of $S$-wave $K\pi$ scattering even when our interest is in the $P$-wave system.

Based on material appearing in arXiv:2208.13755 [hep-lat] in collaboration with Archana Radhakrishnan and Robert Edwards, on behalf of the Hadron Spectrum Collaboration.

Best,
Caroline, Colin, & Patrick
