Hello All,
Today at 1:00 PM (EDT), Daniel Adamiak will give our next hybrid theory seminar of the Fall term.
If you will be on-site and are comfortable doing so, please join us in room F224-225 of CEBAF Center. Otherwise, Daniel's seminar will also be provided virtually on our usual ZoomGov link: https://jlab-org.zoomgov.com/j/1611179843?pwd=M09CNTFpbFVZSW1IQlhIMGp3RUVHUT09
Please see below for the title and abstract of Daniel's talk.
Theory Seminar
Monday, October 10th at 1:00 PM
Daniel Adamiak (Ohio State University)
will discuss "Small-x helicity phenomenology"
Abstract: One of the goals of the upcoming Electron Ion Collider is to resolve the distribution of angular momentum inside the proton. Current measurements quark and gluon spin contribution do not add up to the spin of the proton. This is known as the proton spin puzzle and, in order to solve it, the small-x asymptotics of the helicity parton distribution functions (hPDFs) need to be understood. New theory has been developed for the small-x evolution of these hPDFs, able to extrapolate the small-x behaviour of the quark and gluon hPDFs. At large Nc & Nf, these evolution equations close and are amenable to numerical computation. In this talk we will present the phenomenological analysis of this theory by describing the world data on the g1 and g_1^h structure functions within the Jefferson Angular Momentum (JAM) global analysis framework. Beyond this, we investigate the qualitative behaviour of the quark and gluon hPDFs and the challenges involved with fitting them.
See you later!
