Hello All,
This coming Wednesday, April 12th, at 1:00 PM (EDT), Alex Gnech will give our next hybrid theory seminar. We want to highlight that this seminar is one of the ODU + JLab joint position interviews. If you will be on-site and are comfortable doing so, please join us in room L102 of CEBAF Center. Otherwise, Alex's seminar will also be provided virtually on our usual ZoomGov link: https://jlab-org.zoomgov.com/j/1611179843?pwd=M09CNTFpbFVZSW1IQlhIMGp3RUVHUT09
Please see below for the title and abstract.
Theory Seminar
Wednesday, April 12th at 1:00 PM
Alex Gnech (ECT*)
will discuss "Ab-initio methods and chiral effective field theory for electroweak processes and beyond"
Abstract:
Ab-initio methods establish a direct connection between nuclear physics and fundamental theory. The combination of chiral effective field theory with advanced numerical techniques has proven highly effective in describing the nuclear structure and dynamics at low energy. This not only provides more accurate information on the nature of the nuclear force but also facilitates the use of nuclei as probes for studying beyond the standard model physics. In this seminar, I will introduce the chiral effective field theory framework and two numerical methods that are used to compute the structure and dynamics of nuclei. Additionally, I will present recent results obtained within this framework on electroweak processes, focusing on the improvement of nuclear currents in chiral effective field theories. The emphasis will be on the role that these results can play in extracting new physics information, as well as their relevance in the context of experimental and theoretical efforts at JLab.
Best Regards,
Caroline, Colin, & Patrick
