Will discuss “Heavy mesons in a hot medium”

Abstract:
Mesons with heavy flavor content are a promising probe of the hot QCD phases produced in heavy-ion collisions. I will present our recent progress on the properties of heavy mesons modified by the presence of a thermal mesonic medium. We employ an effective field theory based on chiral and heavy-quark spin-flavor symmetries to describe the scattering of the heavy mesons off the light mesons, and incorporate finite-temperature corrections in a self-consistent way through the imaginary-time formalism [1,2]. I will discuss our results of the thermal scattering amplitudes and spectral functions, as well as several applications including the calculation of (i) meson Euclidean correlators [3], (ii) off-shell transport coefficients [4], and (iii) the thermal properties of the exotic X(3872) state and its spin-flavor partners [5].
