Speaker: Stanislav Srednyak (Duke University)
Title: Current studies of QED radiative corrections for PRad-II and DRad experiments
Abstract: The JLab PAC-approved PRad-II experiment and the proposed JLab DRad experiment are designed to measure unpolarized elastic electron-proton (e+p) and electron-deuteron (e+d) cross sections as well as the proton and deuteron charge radii, respectively. In order to extract the cross sections and radii with high precision, having reliable knowledge of QED radiative corrections are essential. In this presentation, we will first review different approaches for calculating one- and two-loop radiative corrections to the e+p and e+d scattering. One method of calculations is based on differential equations and master integrals. As such, we will describe our view towards generalization of the method to processes with real emission. Another, more classical approach is based on extension of the work of Bardin-Shumeiko for infrared divergence cancellation. We will present the status of our current work on a semi-analytic calculation of the model-independent part of higher-order radiative corrections in e+p scattering, which may be applicable to the PRad-II experiment. We will also discuss the results from our recent paper obtained for the DRad kinematics on lowest-order radiative corrections in unpolarized elastic e+d scattering beyond the ultra-relativistic limit.
See you on Monday.
Best regards,
Caroline, Joe, and Zheng-Yang
