Greetings everyone,
This is a reminder that we have an in-person seminar today at 1:00 PM. The seminar will be both in-person in CC F224-225 and broadcast over Zoom at the following link:
https://jlab-org.zoomgov.com/j/1608569204?pwd=EI3L5PcXP8ncT4KbRvd1hrIuHAVFjf.1
Tomorrow's speaker is Zaki Panjsheeri from University of Virginia. Please find the title and abstract below.
Title: Generalized parton distributions in the AI/ML era
Abstract: The proton’s internal structure is a rich environment for the study of emergence in quantum chromodynamics. Generalized parton distributions (GPDs) give direct access to this environment. GPDs parameterize the components of quark and gluon angular momentum that enter the spin sum rules and, through Fourier transformation with respect to the transverse momentum transfer, provide spatial distributions of partons inside the proton. The extraction of GPDs from Compton form factors (CFFs), which themselves must be extracted from the cross sections and asymmetries of deeply virtual exclusive processes, poses a complicated inverse problem. In this seminar, to demonstrate the various properties of and constraints on GPDs, I will present a model of valence, sea, and gluon GPDs that offers predictions in the kinematics of Jefferson Lab and the upcoming Electron-Ion Collider. This lays the foundation for the work of the Exclusives in AI/ML (ExclAIm) collaboration in applying ML techniques to the extraction of GPDs from experimental data and ab initio lattice QCD results. I will discuss our physical interpretation of GPDs from LQCD calculations through symbolic regression, as well as our deep learning-based parameterization called Neural Network GPDs (NNGPD).
We look forward to seeing you all there!
Kind regards,
Adam
