Title: Joint QCD and QED factorization for single hadron/jet production in lepton-hadron collisions
Abstract: With a large momentum transfer, high energy lepton-hadron deep inelastic scattering necessarily induces both QCD and QED radiations. In this talk, we present the first calculation of NLO inclusive single hadron/jet production at large transverse momentum in lepton-hadron collisions in a joint QCD and QED factorization approach. Both QCD and QED collision-induced radiation are treated equally and their collinear sensitivities are systematically factorized into corresponding universal lepton and parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions. With the joint QCD and QED factorization, the DGLAP-type evolution equations for these lepton and parton distributions are necessary to have evolution kernels calculated in both QCD and QED. We discuss the strategy for solving these new evolution equations and for extracting corresponding universal and non-perturbative lepton and parton distributions. We also discuss the unique role of this process in comparing with and complementing to the better-studied inclusive deep inelastic scattering and semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering processes.
See you on Wednesday.
Best regards,
Joe, Zheng-Yang & Gloria
