Title: Recent developments in meson photoproduction at high energies within Regge theory

Abstract: The observation of hybrid mesons in photoproduction experiments such as GlueX provides a powerful probe of QCD in the nonperturbative regime. Interpreting forthcoming measurements requires a detailed understanding of the underlying production mechanisms. In this seminar, I will review recent developments in modeling meson photoproduction within the framework of Regge theory. At high energies, diffractive meson production is governed by the exchange of Regge trajectories associated with the lightest mesons. In particular, the Regge pion exchange is expected to dominate in charge-exchange reactions. I will discuss the Reggeization of pion exchange in charged pion photoproduction, with an emphasis on ensuring consistency with current conservation [1]. I will also present a new Regge model based on double-vector exchange for ηπ and η’π photoproduction [2]. These channels are of particular interest because they contain the exotic π₁(1600) at low energies. The model predicts a larger forward-backward angular asymmetry in η’π than ηπ, indicating a stronger contribution of exotic partial waves in the η’π channel.
