Status and future of event generation - the Lund perspective

I will discuss recent developments in event generator modelling
and
techniques. Perhaps the most striking progress has been the
increase in
formal precision of perturbative calculations by combining
fixed-order
calculations with parton-shower resummation. I will describe the
status
of such techniques and the ongoing efforts to further improve
the
precision. I will also describe recent work to improve the
understanding
and modelling of soft processes such as hadronization and
multi-parton
interactions, in particular in dense high-multiplicity events.<br
