</span><span style="font-family:Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif, serif, EmojiFont"><span style="font-size: 12pt; background-color: white;">The strong force between quarks and gluons is described by the quantum and relativistic theory of quantum chromodynamics
(QCD). Despite its development several decades ago, first-principles predictions remain challenging since QCD is strongly coupled at low energies. High-energy nuclear collider experiments are designed to answer questions about emergent phenomena in QCD, the
structure of protons and heavy nuclei, and to search for physics beyond the Standard Model. Confronting experimental data with first-principles predictions in QCD requires a rigorous understanding of the perturbative regime at high energies as well as simulations
of the low-energy dynamics. In this talk, I will discuss recent advances in the study of hadrons and jets using modern methods of quantum field theory. Jet physics has been setting new frontiers in studies of fundamental QCD dynamics and studies of nuclear
matter. These ideas are directly relevant for the physics program at Jefferson Lab, the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and they provide new research directions for the Electron-Ion Collider, the premier future project of the U.S. Nuclear Physics program. An
important future direction is to characterize and simulate the transition of low-energy quarks and gluons to hadrons. Here, perturbative techniques are generally not applicable, but progress in quantum computing may eventually allow for first-principles simulations.
I will present first proof-of-concept studies using existing quantum devices and outline future directions.</span></span><u><b><span style="font-family:Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif, serif, EmojiFont"><br>
