<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:black">The study of the pion plays an essential role in understanding QCD. In this talk, I begin by outlining that role, and the experimental program at Jefferson Lab and the
future EIC directed at pion structure. The pion also represents a computationally efficient theatre in which to develop the methods for first-principles lattice calculations of hadron structure. I describe recent work at calculating the parton distribution
functions of the pion, focusing on work by the HadStruc collaboration, and work to explore the pion form factor. I conclude with the prospects for future calculations.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
