<span style="color: black;"><b><u>Abstract</u></b>: </span><span style="color: rgb(32, 32, 32); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); line-height: 1.284;">Including three-body dynamics above threshold is required for the reliable extraction of many amplitudes
and resonances from experiment and lattice QCD. The <i>S</i>-matrix principle of unitarity can be used to construct amplitudes for three-particle scattering, rearranging two-body subsystems by particle exchange. Our work presents a unitary coupled-channel
method that includes pions and kaons, evaluated for the example of the <i>a</i><sub>1</sub>(1260) system. The model contains two-body
<i>S</i>- and <i>P</i>-wave subsystems (isobars) of all isospins. We evaluate and compare the production amplitudes for physical momenta with traditional isobar lineshapes to show coupled-channel and rescattering effects.</span><span style="color: black;"> </span></div>
