After John aligned the drive laser through the lens using the biased anode and pico-ammeter, we set the gun dipole to the value specified by Joe. Then the gun was ramped to 200kV without problems, and the laser beam was sent to the cathode in Viewer Limited mode. With ITVK201 inserted, we adjusted the gun solenoid and finally saw the electron beam on the screen!

The beam makes it around the first bend too:

Ugly beam, but 200 keV beam nonetheless!

We have now a list of things to take care of before continuing with beam setup and transport all the way to Faraday Cup 2 and to the spectrometer line, but we will discuss the checklist after the Holidays.

Congratulations to everyone! and many many thanks for your diligence and efforts!...we still need more of that in the coming months! :-)

Carlos
