Michele,
Thank you for meeting with us today and going over some of our concerns about building 85. The following items, however are still of concern to our group and I wanted to enumerated them.
- The temperature in the MCC Equipment Room (105) is approaching 85 degrees in places and there seems to be at least a 10 degree variation throughout the room. The temperature in some of the racks is very high. For example, the master oscillator rack is 95 degrees inside and we are not even running the accelerator. I have attached a graph of the temperature before and after the upgrade and you can see a difference in solid state running from around 71 degrees before to around 84 degrees now. I admit that this is in a single spot but this is exactly where we need cooling the most.
-One of the crack units is still in constant alarm (since early this morning).
- It appears that total capacity of the two crack units (10 on paper, 8 effective) is exactly the specified load for the room (from the initial design documents). This leaves no head room and no room for failure.
- The outlet that powers the printer in the MCC Control Room (104) no longer works or is mislabeled. It says breaker M-P/20 which is on and has been cycled but still has no power.
- If it will be several weeks until the floor is replaced in the MCC Equipment Room (105), we would like to get some sort of warning barrier to keep people walking on the plywood or have the plywood secured in a more permanent way.
- We need an account code to order a replacement management card for the UPS in the front of the room. This was damaged during the renovations. It appears as if someone pulled on the cable so hard that it ripped the port out. The cost is around $100. Bickley and Suhring have been made aware of this (as coordinators) and may have already brought this up to you.
- If the building is to be re-occupied, we would like to get CANS re-activated on the MCC Equipment Room (105).
Thank you for your time.
