All,
The facilities HVAC techs will repair as soon as possible. We hope to get approved for LOTO today. Early next week is probably the quickest we will be able to get to it.
R,
Kent

Gary,
We brought it up at the SAD oversight committee meeting yesterday. Four facility electricians will be LOTO requalified first to take care of dehumidifiers for the Open House event as early as today. Once they take care of the dehumidifiers, they should be able to take care of the air conditioner in 87. I hope it can be done early next week. It needs to be done. Temperature is too high for equipment. It is also impossible to work in the building because heat and fan noise.
We have three options:
1. Wait until early next week for the issue to be resolved as described above. I assume facilities can address this issue as early as possible.
2. We can elevate this to Andrei, so that he can request immediate service before LOTO requalification is complete. This must be emergency to save equipment or life.
3. If it becomes dangerous for equipment to work, we can shut it down and go home. The impact of shutting down equipment and restarting it must be compared to the second item.
I talked to Theo and Theo yesterday evening. They said the situation, most likely, can wait until early next week. It is being monitored. However, it has to be addressed as early as possible once electricians are requalified.
Hope this helps. We need faculties’ help with this ASAP.
Eduard.

They have been “listed as tier 1” due to jobs concerning Open house this weekend. That should clear them to perform LOTO work on this sort of equipment around site. My original questions remain.
As a note, if we can not get this taken care of within the next day or so, the equipment may have to be shut down until this is remedied.

Mike Sprouse and his crew has been listed as tier 1, but I do not know where exactly that puts them on the priority list. I have copied and will discuss with Joel Dolbeck who is on the SAD oversight team that prioritizes the LOTO recertification.
Sincerely,
Carroll W. Jones

Good morning,
Would the folks being evaluated this week be allowed to remedy this issue? Or is a contractor required to do it?

Hi Eduard / Carroll,
I’ve heard that addressing AC issues in building 87 is dependent on LOTO recertification, but if possible can we prioritize this activity? Please see the report from Brad below. Beyond the issue of functional electronics, temperatures in the high 80s are not a suitable office environment.
Thanks,
Gary
--------
Building was upper 80’s this afternoon.
Telecom room is 87F.
Looks like both building AC units (north and south side) are off. Only 1 unit in telecom room is on.
It’s starting to smell like hot electronics on our side of the building and I am starting to get upper threshold alerts from the firewall.
It won’t be long before we start burning up equipment.
