Jefferson Lab, like other government sites, uses the Federal Telephone System (FTS) for long-distance telephone service. This service is currently experiencing problems that are resulting in Jefferson Lab not receiving incoming long-distance phone calls from other government sites (i.e. DOE, other labs, NASA, etc). Telecommunications staffers are working with DOE and Verizon to restore this service.

In summary, lab phones can:  
- make outgoing long-distance phone calls (including calls to other government sites);
- receive long-distance phone calls from non-government sites (i.e. cell phones, businesses, personal telephones, etc.).

Until service is restored, lab phones cannot:
- receive phone calls from government sites, such as DOE HQ, other labs, NASA, etc.
