Sent on behalf of the IT Division

A serious vulnerability in all versions of Java 7 is currently being exploited. The vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code on computer systems. This vulnerability is specific to Java 7 and impacts all operating systems and web browsers. To protect the laboratory against this threat, the IT Division is asking that all users disable Java 7 in their web browsers. It's expected that this will have little to no impact on your daily JLab-related web activities. However, if you find that disabling Java does impact your work, contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155. Instructions on how to disable Java 7 in your browser are available on the CNI Web Page: https://cc.jlab.org/javaexploit

For Business Services and other sensitive computing enclaves, a number of web sites will temporarily be removed from the list of proxied web sites. If you find that you cannot access a web site from your desktop, use the central terminal server jlabts.jlab.org

If you have any questions or concerns about this notice, contact the IT Division Helpdesk, x7155.
