[All_jlab_accounts] JLab Internet Outage Cause Identified

Several times this week, access to the Internet through the Jefferson Lab network was interrupted during business hours when one of the laboratory's two Internet firewalls failed. CNI staff has worked with the vendor to identify the problem and has determined that a new firewall is needed. The vendor is replacing the equipment that has failed, and a new unit has already been shipped by the manufacturer. Once the equipment has arrived on site and has been prepared for installation, CNI staff will schedule a time outside of normal business hours to replace the unit and minimize any further interruption in service. It's expected that the work will take place one evening next week.
