Windows XP systems on site are having a problem with printing such that, in some circumstances, printed documents will be missing characters. This is due to UniScribe not being enabled on Jefferson Lab Windows XP systems by default. UniScribe is a set of application programming interfaces that enables applications to render Unicode text on Windows XP systems. The CNI group is updating Windows policy so that UniScribe becomes enabled following a system reboot. Plan on rebooting your Windows XP system sometime after 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 3, in order to finalize the policy update. If you continue to have issues with printing after a reboot or you have any questions or concerns regarding this Windows Policy update, contact the IT Division Helpdesk at helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155.
