[All_staff] Message from Hugh Montgomery: Voluntary Separation Program

Dear Colleagues:

The scientific emphases of Jefferson Lab will change over the coming 
decade as we implement the 12 GeV physics program. Along with the 
promise and the excitement of this program, we also face the real 
potential for restrained federal support and tight budgets, making this 
transition even more challenging.It is also incumbent upon us to operate 
the lab as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Therefore we will implement a Voluntary Separation Program (VSP).Our 
objective is to create the flexibility to develop the right balance of 
skills and staffing levels for the 12 GeV era of science.

The lab's management team has analyzed the situation, and we seek up to 
35 volunteers for the VSP. For those who decide to participate in this 
voluntary separation program, a separation package will be offered.


To provide you with more information about this program, we have 
scheduled three all-staff meetings during which we will present full 
details and answer all of your questions.

These meetings will be held on Thursday, June 28 in the CEBAF Center 
auditorium from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

·Those with last names beginning with *A through F* are to attend the 
*1:00 p.m. *session

·Those with last names beginning with *G through N* are to attend 
the*2:15 p.m.* session

·Those with last names beginning with *O through Z *are to attend the 
*3:30 p.m.* session

I encourage you to attend one of these meetings so that you can fully 
understand the workforce reduction program and make an informed decision 
as to whether it is right for you. If for work-related reasons you are 
unable to attend your scheduled meeting, please attend another.
