[All_staff] Maximum Vacation Carryover Balance & Upcoming Holiday Shutdown Reminder

Dear Colleagues: 


Jefferson Lab will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 24, 2014 through Sunday, January 4, 2015 for the annual holiday shutdown. The Lab will resume normal business operations on Monday, January 5, 2015. As a reminder, December 24, 25, 26, and January 1, 2015, are designated as holidays. During this year’s holiday closure, four days have been designated as shutdown days. They are as follows: December 29, 30, 31, 2014 and January 2, 2015. 




    * For timesheet period December 16 through December 31, 2014 employees will either charge three days (December 29, 30, 31) of accrued vacation or LWOP. 


    * For timesheet period January 1 through January 15, 2015, employees will charge one day (January 2, 2015) of accrued vacation or LWOP. 

As a reminder, the maximum vacation accrual an employee can carry over into the new calendar year is 240 hours. Therefore, any accrued, unused vacation hours in excess of 240 hours will be forfeited as of December 31, 2014. 


The LWOP option is only available during designated shutdown days. All employees will receive a follow-up communication providing instruction on how to charge LWOP prior to the Lab closing for the Holiday Shutdown.
