[All_staff] Message from Mike Maier: Welcome Jefferson Lab's new Communications Manager

All,

I would like to introduce Jefferson Lab’s new Communications Manager, 
Lauren Hansen. She joined us on January 17 . Lauren will be leading 
Public Affairs going forward under the new designation of the 
Communications Office. This new department name better reflects the full 
range of activities conducted by our communications team including 
community engagement, media relations, governmental affairs, internal 
communications, and graphics services.

For over a decade, Lauren served as the face of transportation in 
Hampton Roads; first as the Public Affairs and Communications Manager 
for the Virginia Department of Transportation ( VDOT ) and most recently 
as the Regional Account Director for PRR, a nationally recognized 
communications firm specializing in transportation, energy, health and 
environment sector communications.

Lauren is well known for her work in communications for developing 
public relations, marketing and community awareness campaigns that 
leverage public sector assets to satisfy stakeholder needs. She holds a 
Bachelor of Science in journalism, with a concentration in public 
relations and advertising from Northeastern University in Boston, 
Massachusetts. She lives across the James River in Carrollton with her 
chef husband, eight-year-old daughter and 90-pound poodle.
