NOTE: You are receiving this notification because your email is stored in Office 365, even though you may access it from a different client, such as Thunderbird. The email retention policy discussed below applies to all such email accounts.
In accordance with DOE Order 243.1C Records Management, Jefferson Lab will implement an email retention period of seven years, which will impact email in all Jefferson Lab Office 365 email accounts. All email older than seven years will be deleted beginning Monday, July 10.
In the best interest of preserving emails related to the scientific mission of the lab, the retention period of the Archive folder - which exists in all lab o365 email accounts - has an indefinite retention. Emails in the Archive folder will not be deleted unless deemed necessary by the mailbox owner.
(Please note: the correct folder is singular "Archive," not plural "Archives.")
Entire folders of emails can be dragged into the Archive folder for ongoing use. Staff may also use the Archive folder to temporarily hold non-mission critical emails for review prior to managing them; however, the Archive folder is not intended to keep non-mission-critical emails indefinitely.
