Dear Colleagues,

The JLab Hall A experiment APEX will be carrying out a search for new
particles that could mediate dark matter interactions with normal matter,
and that are the focus of a broad set of searches at the LHC, B-factories,
and other fixed-target facilities. APEX will explore at least an order of
magnitude of new coupling territory in the interesting mass range extending
below the muon threshold.

We'd like to invite you to get involved in APEX! Help is needed, and there
are several projects appropriate for students, both with hardware/software,
and with analysis.

As part of the preparations, we will be holding the first of a series of
collaboration meetings to bring everyone old and new up to speed on the
physics, the experiment, and the preparation plans.

The first meeting is July 24, starting at 1:30pm Eastern time, and will be
"virtual" -- i.e. most of us will join remotely. For those of you who are
on-site, we have reserved TED 2559.

and registration is free)

The tentative agenda for the meeting is as follows:

*Tuesday July 24*

Toro)
1:50pm - 2:10pm APEX Experimental Overview (Bogdan Wojtsekhowski)
2:10-2:30 Status of APEX Equipment (Robin Wines)
2:30-2:50 APEX installation schedule (Jessie Butler*)
3pm - 3:15pm APEX Preparations Plan (Seamus Riordan)
3:15pm - 3:45 Discussion of new and old APEX members getting involved
3:45-4:05 Online analysis and HRS detectors (Florian Hauenstein)
4:05pm - 4:25pm Beam commissioning of the HRS+septa optics and SciFi
(Vardan Khachatryan*)
4:30pm - 4:50pm APEX Target: Status and time line of preparation (Silviu
Covrig)
4:50pm - 5:30pm Discussion

We look forward to talking with you! If you have any questions, please
email one us at any time.

Best regards,
Rouven, Philip, Natalia, Bogdan (for the APEX Collaboration)
