Dear BDXers,
I just received this message reporting BDX experiment needs to face the jeopardy process at the next JLab PAC.
We are requested to:
- submit a short note (max 10 pags) by May 22;
- prepare a 10 slides as requested I will present at the PAC in July.
Even considering all (political) difficulties the experiment encountered to get the necessary infrastructure done, I'd like to proceed to present to the PAC the (good!) progress we did and show we would be ready to run the experiment if/when the infrastructures will be built. I think this is a good occasion to ask for reconsidering and try to convince the lab management about the opportunity of running BDX,
Assembling the document and the presentation does not seem to be a big issue since we had the chance to present our work in many occasions but we should do it in the best possible way to take advantage of this occasion.
I propose to have a meeting in a couple of weeks from now to discuss together the best strategy and define a work plan.
Here is a doodle to fill by Friday March 10:

Pay attention that during that week the difference Italy/US will only be +5h due to to the different start of the day light saving regime in the two countries.
Cheers
Marco

Dear M. Battaglieri,
Based upon the 12 GeV era Jeopardy policy established in 2016, (see http://www.jlab.org/exp_prog/PACpage/PAC47/Jeopardy_2016_Final.pdf) your previously approved experiment, E12-16-001, titled, “ Dark matter search in a Beam-Dump eXperiment (BDX) at Jefferson Lab -- 2018 update to PR12-16-001,” will be considered in Jeopardy at the upcoming, next PAC meeting, PAC51, to be held July 24-28, 2023. While it is not required, you may submit a short update (10 pages maximum) that focuses on any new developments since your previous PAC approval that the PAC should consider in their new evaluation of your proposal. This optional update document will be due 8:00 a.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) on Monday, May 22, 2023.
At the PAC meeting, you will be scheduled (whether you submit a written update or not) for a 10-minute presentation, followed by 10 minutes of questions/discussion. Your presentation should contain a single slide summarizing the goal and motivation of the experiment followed by up to 9 slides (no slide animation or overlays for any of the 10 slides) focused on new developments since your previous PAC approval.
If the PAC recommends that your experiment remain on the books as an approved experiment, it will continue to be eligible for scheduling for the next 4 years when it would again need to be considered for Jeopardy if it has not been scheduled in that time frame.
If you feel that this jeopardy status is in error, please contact Doug Higinbotham or myself immediately.
With best regards,
Thia
