Dear all,

our next BONuS meeting will take place this Wednesday, July 9, in room F227 CEBAF Center. I would like to make this meeting MOSTLY about the upcoming 12 GeV incarnation of BONuS - in particular, I would like to get the discussion started about possible designs for the best possible recoil detector.
For this purpose, I have invited Raphaël to give us a presentation on some design ideas that he and the Argonne group have developed for a new recoil detector (which was proposed in a LOI to the PAC a while ago). I also hope that members of the EG6 run group can attend to give us their perspective on both the advantages and the challenges they encountered with the GEM-based RTPC modeled after the original BONuS detector. Finally, I am hoping that someone from the Hall A collaboration proposing a new detector to measure tagged (pion) structure functions in that Hall can also be present (this is a new proposal submitted to PAC42). Hence I have added several names to the usual BONuS list.

I realize that we won't have enough time to thoroughly explore all these options. For this reason, we are also planning a longer "BONuS Fest" (workshop) later this month (likely date now Friday, July 25 - but the Doodle poll is still open at http://doodle.com/xdtif95y4r6bhx2n ). However, I wanted to take advantage of Raphaël being in town this week, and also get the ball rolling. We do NOT expect any "polished" presentations, and in any case no more than 10-15 minutes for any one of them. In any case, I decided to make a bit more time available by starting the meeting ALREADY AT 12:15 (SHARP!), not the customary 12:45. Hopefully y'all can make it that early! (We have until 1:45 and can run a little over if absolutely necessary).

You can find the present agenda at
https://clasweb.jlab.org/rungroups/bonus/wiki/index.php/Meeting_Agendas_and_Minutes
under "July 9". If at all possible, please post your presentations somewhere on the web so that off-site users can access them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We will use the new Bluejeans conferencing system - all necessary information can be found at the end of the agenda. The previous system (Readytalk) is nearing its end-of-life, and Bluejeans has several nice features that we will try to use, including video.

Sorry for the somewhat lengthy message - hope to see you (this time for real!) on Wednesday! - Sebastian
