[Bonuslist] Daily RC Report August 14th, 2020

Hi All,

this is the status and report of the BONuS experiment (Run Group F), Friday, August 14th, 2020

As yesterday was a smooth data acquisition day, today was more a roller coaster.

Owl:

  *   240nA beam requested for a run
  *   beam showed some instability for 20 min, but it is not cleat that it was related with  modulation frequency showed the previous days.
  *   in general, small DAQ issues as ROC reboots

Day:

  *   shift started running 200nA at 10.4GeV over deuterium.

     *   beam was available ~14:30
  *   Jiwan P. replaced the target gas with H2
  *   ~14:30 started harp scans

Swing:

  *   tuning the beam for the experiment took a bit longer that I expected (we finish ~ 19:00). I assume the responsibility of such delay due to my inexperience in such procedure, since I should advice the shift worker of how to proceed in case of doubt.
  *   it was noticed by Jerry G., indicated by Raffaella D. that the FT HV is not part of the main HV GUI. (is it indicated somewhere? I will check the wiki). So, starting the run, the trigger alarm was causing a lot of errors, because the FT was off.
  *   Small issue with BlueJeans phone call. I was restoring the connection and requested to the app to call the phone we are using. The app didn't cut the previous connection so there were two calls at the same time, the original and one with annoying music.

  *   ~21:30 current increased up to 250nA at 10.4GeV on Hydrogen
  *   Jerry G. noticed weird number from the BTA. Eugene P. solved --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3827708
  *   Jerry G. noticed that everytime we recover from beam trip, it overshoot the current indicated in the BPMs. He will notified with more detail to Stepan S.

Besides the beam being (at the moment of this report) quite trippy, the system is working ok, and data acquisition is running.

The plan is running on hydrogen for 40M events, so probably is expected to accomplish this goal in the morning, so we will proceed with the next item in the plan, run with empty target ~2h  with good beam at 300 nA. Then probably we will be in the RC meeting and check to move to He.

We are running at 250nA at 10.4GeV on Hydrogen @67.25 psig.

RC REQUEST: the RC phone is, to use a soft word, crappy and hard to hear the person on the other side. Please, if you can try first the counting house (269 5246) and then the RC phone.
