[Bonuslist] Status of BONuS12 at this moment

Dear BONuSites,

as most of you already know (and all of you could probably expect), the situation due to the Covid-19 virus pandemic is very challenging. Jefferson Lab Director Stuart Henderson sent out a message today announcing that Jefferson Lab is now in MEDCON5 condition, but reaffirmed that “science will go on” (my paraphrase). As far as I understand, nobody will be required to stay home unless they self-identify as possibly exposed or ill, or if they have recently traveled to a hot-spot.

Consequently, we decided to go ahead with the planned swap of RTPC1 with RTPC3, which has been fully and satisfactorily tested. We may have to stop if the lab goes to MEDCON6, but given the less-than-satisfactory performance of RTPC1, we feel we have no choice.

As I am writing this, the Hall is going into Restricted Access. The swap-out schedule is attached - we are maybe 1-2 hours behind, but we believe we can catch up. Clearly, we need help from anyone who can provide it - either during this week (if you actually are trained on any aspect of RTPC operations/handling) or starting Friday Day to man shifts in the CH (assuming we come back up for beam on Friday). I am presently the RC and Eric is our lead on the RTPC, so contact both of us if you have questions or want to offer help. If you are able to volunteer for shifts, please contact Dan Carman with cc to Stepan Stepanyan and Bryan McKinnon. Also, if you can help later with RC duties, let us know - right now we have an opening April 8-14.
