Hi All,
this is the status of the BONuS experiment (Run Group F), Thursday 19th, 2020.
* Rhe RTPC was aligned by the survey group.
* Bob Miller connected the gas panel to the RTPC and checked for leaks.
* The upstream beamline was installed and pump down vacuum.
* The RTPC +FMT cableb to BEU (Yuri + Jiwan).
* there was some issues with an optical fiber, solved reconnect it back.
* there was a software issue with the RTPC DAQ solved remotely by Irakli
* we are flowing N2 into the target (all night)
* we are flowing pre-mix gas into the RTPC (no He to the buffer)
* After consulting Nathan B., Jiwan brought a crate from EEL to test the HV modules in that crate, due to some communications issues with the original crate.
* we found some problems to ramp up the GEM voltages. We are not sure if it is a problem of
* moisture (we didn't flow enough gas. Jiwan said that it is something that happened before)
* the new crate
* Jiwan tweak a bit the ramping times and reduced the cathode voltage a bit, resulting in a stable HV
* We started a cosmic run at ~22h. I will start a new one before go home.
Next steps:
* Nathan D. will come very early tomorrow to set-up the DMS.
* Finishing BPM alignments
* Nathan B. and Jiwan will decide the final destination of the HV modules (original crate or new one --> find a proper place for it)
* If everything is ok, we will call RadCon to sweep the Hall and enter in Beam Permit
* Dave Hamlette will ask his team (I have to remind him) to move the RTPC1 to the EEL building, inside the radiologic controlled area (the BONuS corner).
Extras:
* Since tomorrow morning, is expected some fluency of experts in the counting house (not against the JLab recommendations, but necessary somehow), I asked the shift takers to arrive around 10AM instead the normal time, so the number of people is keep as low as possible. Nevertheless, if experts are necessary to bring the Hall ON, I will ask the shifters to wait upstairs the counting house. We are trying to keep the 6ft possible.
* We have the procedure for Donning and Doffing coronavirus PPE. In principle Shift Taker won't need to use it, BUT I will request to read it.
I guess we are quite close to continue breaking Deuterium
Cheers
-Carlos
