Hi BTeamers,
These are meeting notes from the Tue 30 Aug BTeam meeting. I'll write up
notes from the Thu 1 Sep BTeam meeting shortly along with a firmer
agenda for the Tue 6 Sep meeting. Comments, suggestions, and input are
always welcome. Thanks, and cheers!
-Todd

BTeam meeting notes, Tue 30 Aug
Attendees: Ryan Bodenstein, Joe Grames, Alicia Hofler, Michele Joyce,
Geoff Kazimi, Geoff Krafft, Mike McCaughin, Noel Okay, Todd Satogata,
Mike Tiefenback, Dennis Turner, Yan Wang
(*) Restarting BTeam meetings Tue/Thu 11:00 MCC to prepare for startup
- Considerable input will come from 6MSD Ops/Recovery Review Wed 31 Aug.
- CASA personnel are also assigned to certain startup tasks
* Will include/track this list as one of many agenda items
(*) AHLA update
- CED will be ready for HLA App review 19 Sep, then operations training
- Can use CASA model support
* C100/R100 install slots/locations (to Marie)
* APELs: Hall deck configuration checks, particularly Hall A g2p (Yves)
- Should include diagnostics locations (e.g. BPMs)
- Can be used as a test of CED/model processes
(*) BBU Injector configuration
- Todd's plan has 20 MeV injector energy, 177.78 MeV symmetric linacs
* Beam currents up to BSY dump limit, 100 kW => ~130 uA
* Tief raises question about potential BSY current limit in low energy.
Todd will follow up.
- Reza notes 22.5 MeV has been done 2-3 years ago
* Reza: 20 MeV may be significantly harder
* Tief: 2-pass only, rough beam quality can be rough, no parity quality.
Believes that 20 MeV or even lower may be feasible.
- Yan will develop a startup procedure and start circulating a draft
for commentary and discussion at a future meeting. This will help
identify other areas of concern for low energy injector operations.
- There is a strong desire to take advantage of injector-only setup time
to develop low energy injector configuration. This was also shown at
the 6MSD recovery review on Wed 31 Aug.
- Consensus: Set up 22.5 MeV injector first and put it in the bank, then
work to set up 20 MeV with whatever time remains. Ilkyoung/Todd will have
machine optics decks available for these two scenarios.
(*) Zigzag emittance tool
- Intent is to provide faster, reproducible multiharp emittance measurements.
- Dennis and Tief are continuing to work on this after Pavel's departure.
- Still a development tool (e.g. model integration is at least partly by hand)
* Determine in upcoming run whether this is worth investment to make
a routine operational tool, including model integration.
- Dennis and Todd (and Tief?) will meet Fri 2 Sep
(*) Next meetings 11:00 Thu 1 Sep (MCC) and 11:00 Tue 6 Sep (MCC)
