*Subject: *Annual Performance Assurance Test - Access Control Lockdown Procedure and Functionality Test - Notification to Leadership

All, in order to fulfill an annual performance assurance test requirement of the Lab’s lockdown procedure and test the Access Control System’s (ACS) lockdown functionality, I received approval to perform the test during the evening hours of Tuesday Dec. 21, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m. to minimize potential impact to staff and User site access. The estimated interruption period should not exceed 30-45 minutes. The performance test will temporarily deactivate all ACS card readers so that no 
JLab photo badge holder will be able to access an ACS equipped door. The onsite security team will assess a pre-determined number of building exterior doors to confirm the ACS lockdown function works as designed, and record the results. Security will then reactivate a specified door simulating a law enforcement response access point. Once completed and confirmed, security officers and the Security Technical Coordinator will oversee restoration of the ACS to its normal function and configuration.

This email is to provide you and your respective staffs’ with enough notice to anticipate any operational impact risk that requires a reconsideration of performing the scheduled test. I will be working with Communications to publish an internal staff notice as well. Also Security will post signage on doors starting today and over the weekend to further communicate this planned temporary access interruption. Please advise me with any concerns you may have.
