Dear colleagues,

Please see the below about the sad passing of Walt and Evelyn Akers's
daughter Maddie a week ago; Walt had posted his message on Facebook
on Wednesday where I had first learned of it. Note that there is a
family visitation on Monday evening (Nov 3, 6-8 PM). Personally Leah
and I are planning to make a donation to the 4Paws Animal Rescue Team
as Walt suggests, as we both know they also love their dogs (Harriers)
dearly.

With immense sadness we learned that Walt and Evelyn's daughter Maddie tragically passed away. Please offer your moral and other support to Evelyn and Walt, in a way you can. Walt suggested, In lieu of flowers, to consider making donation to the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank to help the many people who are suffering now, or to the Animal Rescue Team. Our thoughts are with Walt, Evelyn and Daniel Akers.

Those of you who knew her, know that she was a smart, confident, fiercely independent young woman who still had enough love in her heart for anyone who needed it. The time we spent  together was joyous, raucous, filled with love and laughter, and far too short.
