Dear All,
I also fully support the move of CHEP in Norfolk to 2022 to view of uncertainties from the pandemic and the considerations of Jefferson Lab.
The following issues might be the arrangement of hosts after CHEP in Jefferson Lab, in the original plan. The other thing is how to support the publications planned to happen in CHEP2021.
Thanks for Amber and JLab colleagues in taking care of the best arrangement for the community.
Best Regards,

That would be an online conference in my opinion, like it happened for other big conferences line ICHEP this year. The point is that particularly younger people in early stages of their career (but not only) will have an opportunity to present their work, have the proceedings published in a journal, etc .. It will also offer the possibility to set a natural deadline for some of the work being done. The risk is that otherwise many of the fellows or first year postdoc will finish their first working experience without any of that, that is not good in my opinion. It is not obviously as ideal as an in-person CHEP because of the networking aspects Pete highlighted, but it is the best we can probably do.

The negotiating position is much stronger now than in May. The City of Norfolk and the hotels are making a recommendation to the hotels’ corporate offices of moving the conference without penalty to either Spring or Fall of 2022 if we can sign a contract that commits to an event in Norfolk in 2022 at the original number of attendees.
