Hi All,
Here is more to think about especially with regard to the central detector.
One must know how close we can be to the Solenoid so the stray field
does not effect the electronics.
should we attempt to make all the detectors always connected to their
electronics?
For TOF in CLAS I know we connect and disconnect all the time. I don't
think this causes much of a problem. For other types of detectors I'm
not sure how big a deal it is, and I'm not sure if CLAS12 is more sensitive.
For Primex we had a nice solution that allowed motion of the HYCAL about
3-4 m in Y, 1m in X and 2m in Z. I'm sure most of you know it but you
can see pictures for a reminder at:

What we did was to make bundles of ~50 cables inside stainless steel
braided sleeves. This allowed a cleaner system even though we needed to
have more than 2000 cables connected to HYCAL and have it remotely
moveable with out people checking the cables. It worked. For CLAS12 we
can have people there to help with the motion so it could be easier...
Any way , It might be possible to have the racks and cables for the
central detector on L3.
Take a look at the attached slides and think about this concept please.
Thanks
Dave
