Dear Spectroscopists
Recently there has been a non-negligible uptick in the number of abstracts submitted to conferences without first being submitted to the working group for approval or to solicit comment. A similar trend is visible with regards to the presentations themselves.
Whilst it is great to see our work being presented and publicised to the community at large, this also means we must continue to ensure that our messages are consistent and agreed upon.
If you intend to submit a conference abstract, you should first have it approved by the HSWG. On the speakers committee request from amongst other details you will see:
Abstract approved:
Will have an abstract:
If you answer yes to the second and no to the first, that indicates you have not followed the correct process. Submitting your request and abstract to the speakers committee is NOT working group approval. This applies to all collaborators at all stages of their career.
Approval is trivial to seek and I try to keep it light touch. Simply email your abstract to clas_hadron at jlab.org <mailto:clas_hadron at jlab.org>
Take on board any comments received and if no-one objects to what you have written then you have approval and at the same time have informed your fellow collaborators.
Please remain open and collaborative.
Regards
Bryan
