Dear all
Please reply to myself and Stepan regarding the email below, with some urgency, ideally as soon as you read this email.
The cancellations are increasing and we need as clear a picture of the shifts landscape as soon as possible.
Please indicate:
- any shifts your institute cannot cover
- any shifts your institute can cover even if it means changing the named person to someone already on-site at JLab during the shift dates
- any shifts you cannot cover but have already made some agreement with a local to cover
- any significantly at risk to the best of your current knowledge
— in general let us know what you know.
Regards
Bryan

Dear CLAS Collaborators,
The situation with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) and its impact on international travel evolves daily. Many scientific institutions have already implemented restrictions for non-essential travels, some large meetings and conferences have been canceled. JLAB has restricted all non-essential travels for March and April. As it was expected for a large internationalcollaboration like CLAS, these restrictions adversely affected the CLAS12 operations in Hall-B. Collaborators, initially from Italy but now also from Germany, could not and will not be able to travel to JLAB for their shifts. Others may follow, France, UK... So far we relied on volunteers to fill the missing shifts. But as more shifts will be canceled this simple "volunteering" will not work.
To mitigate the situation we are asking institutional representatives to assess the situation with their travels for shifts and respond ASAP to the followings:
a) which shifts as assigned now in the shift schedule will not be fulfilled because of travel restrictions
b) are there collaborators on site from the institution or is there any arrangement with local universities/institutions to take care of the shifts
Please contact B. McKinnon, S. Stepanyan (PDL) or me with any questions.
